The spring is the absolute perfect time for a Family Photography Adventure Session at Milliken Park in Spartanburg, SC! Spending the evening with the Wright family was such a joy! The boys have so much energy (two twin boys definitely means double the fun) and their parents, Josh and Arjean matched their excitement and joy. During the session we played games, flew paper airplanes, and talked about their future careers (keep a watch on these two: a future spy and an engineer or mechanic!) And even though the focus of the session was celebrating the entire family, we made sure to get some individual portraits of the boys and a few of Josh and Arjean together.
As we planned this session, the topic of what to wear came up and I got to share my #1 tip for clothing when in a natural location: neutral colors are your best friend! Pick one primary or secondary color that works well with the location and then rely on neutral colors to fill in the rest of the outfit. Because the Wright family wore creams, tans, and blues, nothing is distracting from the smiles on their faces or the beauty of the location.
Milliken Park is a dawn to dusk park so planning either a sunrise or sunset session can be great for catching the best lighting of the day. As one of the largest parks in Spartanburg, SC, it can often get crowded on weekends where the trees are peaking in their blossoming so if you’re able, a weekday session might be best to ensure you don’t need to share the space with too many other photographers and clients.
