Tennessee Maternity Adventure Photography Session | Is a Maternity Photoshoot Worth It?

While I know you’re used to seeing elopement photography on my blog, I have to share this magical Tennessee Maternity Adventure Photography Session!

After you get married, taking time for photo sessions often only comes at major life events. With camera phones improving with quality each year, Is a Maternity Photoshoot Worth It?

Professional Photos vs. Self Portraits

Doing It Yourself can Cause Stress:

Trying to do it yourself can result in stressful situations, especially if you have a specific idea in mind. Capturing special moments on your phone or personal camera often works best in more stress-free environments where there’s no pressure to be sure to capture such important moments of your life. Why not relax and enjoy the process of capturing beautiful photos without your or your partner needing to be behind the camera.

You Deserve to Feel Confident:

Celebrating how beautiful you look as you carry your child is something vital for healthy pregnancy mental health. While you might love your baby bump, you might also feel self conscious with how you’re gaining weight or the changes to your figure. While your partner may be showering you with complements, hearing them from someone else can boost confidence. When you choose to book a maternity session, your photographer is going to make you feel and look your very best. You can share your insecurities with them and they’ll be sure to capture you in the most perfect way.

There’s more to Photos than just Taking Pictures:

The biggest difference is that when you decide to get your photos taken professionally such as by booking a Maternity Adventure Photography Session, you’re not just investing in beautiful images but also an incredible experience.

When is the best time to do a Maternity Adventure Session?

Scheduling it in the middle of your pregnancy, or specifically, at the beginning of the 3rd trimester often works best. Morning sickness should have worn off and your baby bump will be showing. Definitely consult your doctor if any sort of hiking will be involved to talk about any special considerations.

While some parents-to-be can be active up to the final weeks of pregnancy, know your body and what is best for you and your little one. Your photographer will have ideas of beautiful locations that won’t require a long hike so voice any concerns or limitations early so the best experience can be planned as soon as you begin the booking process.

Jocelin and Miguel’s Maternity Adventure Session

This Tennessee Adventurous Photo Session was just as special as these photos portray! Jocelin didn’t bat an eye when I mentioned the early wakeup time to reach the park before sunrise or the short hike involved to reach the waterfalls. This woman is such a powerful force as she’s an emergency department nurse so I wasn’t really surprised!

We started out at a favorite outlook of mine. It works so perfectly because there’s rarely anyone there and it’s just a short walk from a pull off. Miguel and Jocelin had decided to bring a picnic of their favorite breakfast meal: bagels and fruit. The picnic basket I had found at a thrift store a few days before fit so perfectly with the morning vibes they were hoping for.

We next headed to the river where there’s a magical forest that lets in just the right amount of sunlight. Miguel’s two friends who were tagging along started singing “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran as Miguel and Jocelin danced with the water cascading behind them. The laughter was completely genuine as we all couldn’t stop giggling!

Finally, we made our way down to the base of the largest waterfall. The rain from the past week had created quite the powerful flow of water. Within seconds, we were soaked but the photos captured and memories shared made it all worth it.

The Verdict: Is a Maternity Photoshoot Worth It?

I want to leave you with the words of this precious couple themselves. I asked them the same question I presented at the beginning of the blog: Is a Maternity Photoshoot Worth It? Here’s their answer:

“We had SUCH a magical experience. Miguel and I left feeling so connected, and we genuinely enjoyed the shoot. The waterfall, WOW! SERIOUSLY!! Jessica was so amazing, and being the subject of photos felt so natural. We didn’t feel pressured at all and she made us feel so comfortable! We really really loved the pictures! We are so happy that we decided to do a shoot!! Trying to choose which ones to print out and hang in our room, but it is SO hard! They are all sooo beautiful!”
