Planning Your Elopement Morning in Asheville, NC
Masterfully Planning Your Elopement Morning in Asheville, NC to fit you and your partner’s vision is just as important as organizing the ceremony. The timeline at the beginning of the day sets the tone for what the rest of the day will be like.
How can you make sure you are stress and worry-free as you get ready? I’ve got some tips for you but first, let’s dive into the story of Mia & Aubrey’s big day!
You know those couples who are just destined to be together? That's Mia and Aubrey!
I first met Mia when I was a toddler. Our moms happened to attend a women's group at the same time and although we don't remember any of this, our moms assure us we met and played together. Fast forward a few years, and we met again at church conference meetings in TN. A few more years past, and we met at a similar church conference meeting in NC, but this time, unlike all the other times, the friendship stuck so when we moved to a town 25 minutes from Mia's hometown, we started becoming good friends. High school friends became college friends as we attended the same university and continued our friendship.
Right about the time we moved, I met Aubrey. His dad was pastoring our church, and Aubrey and his three brothers would hang out with me and my two brothers. The 7 of us were in youth group together and happened to make some music videos that better never see the light of day. Justin Bieber was definitely involved... Aubrey and his family moved shortly afterwards to Papua, Indonesia, and we'd look forward to them coming back each year on furlough to catch up with them.
All this time, Mia and Aubrey were friends. Just friends.
It wasn't until a few years ago, while they worked at camp, that things began to click and sparks began to fly. When they finally started officially dating, I begged them to let me take couples photos of them, because I was so thrilled that two friends had fallen in love! You know those relationships that you just know are going to last and lead to marriage? That was them. Their personalities seemed too perfect for one another to not complement in every way.
I felt so honored to capture these special moments as they got ready for their Elopement. Their laidback personalities meant the early afternoon was spent hanging out with family and friends: surrounded by laughter. After getting ready at the cabin, off they headed for their first look and ceremony. Asheville is truly a lovely spot to get married, and I'm so glad Mia and Aubry chose it as their location.
Preparing for your Elopement Morning:
On the morning of your wedding day, you should feel relaxed and blissful. While that might not always work out the same way for each wedding, the vendors around you should be working to smooth out any last minute details, so you don't have to worry about anything.
The week before, be sure to compile all your special items you want photographed so when your photographer arrives, they can start while you're getting your makeup finished. Some of the things Mia and Aubrey compiled included their invitations, a wax seal set, their rings in ring boxes, their vows written out, and ribbon in their wedding color. While a photographer will come with their own box of goodies, we do focus on what you bring because we know those details are what's most important to you!
Elopement Day Jitters:
You'll probably be feeling some nerves on Your Elopement Morning, too, but the vendors you're working with will also do their best to make you feel at ease. It may feel funny getting your photo taken while you button your sleeves and adjusting your jacket even when it's looking just fine, and that's okay. We'll laugh about how ridiculous it feels and catch both your laugh and your smolder on camera. And if you happen to own a dog, you can bet we'll spend some time playing with him or her!
Finding the perfect place to get ready is where amazing photos begin. This is something you can help with as you search for locations to stay the night before the wedding. The AirBnB that Mia and Aubrey chose was perfect because of the giant windows that let in a ton of soft light. We took the majority of the photos right in front of the window because it was too perfect to pass up.
Light colored walls and natural furniture helps to keep the focus on you and your bride. While there were large windows at other spots in the house, the walls were a dark wood (it was a cabin after all!) While we could have gotten ready anywhere, the film inspired look thrives in nice naturally-colored walls to bounce light back on the subject.
