Elegant Castle Wedding at the Plummer House in Rochester, MN

Brent & Antonella’s Elegant Castle Wedding at the Plummer House in Rochester, MN truly was magical! You can’t have a couple so in love who are getting married at one of the most famous historical sites in town and not expect the very best. When they mentioned their plans to get married here and their plans to design a wedding day that felt like a fairy tale, I knew these two were 100% my type of people.

Antonella and Brent met in high school and friendship quickly blossomed into a relationship. Brent asked Antonella to be his girlfriend at a favorite park in Rochester, MN and years later, asked her to marry him in the same spot. Choosing to get married in Rochester was natural and the Plummer House served as the perfect backdrop. Boasting stunning English Tutor inspired architecture and pristine gardens surrounding the house, the old-world-feel captured the storybook feeling they wanted to portray on their wedding day.

While I was photographing the detail shots in the morning, my husband explored the house and learned a bit of the history which we both found fascinating. Dr. Henry Plummer was invited to work alongside Dr. William James Mayo was a founder and partner of the very first Mayo Clinic and was instrumental in inventing modern medicine (taking detailed notes from each patient's visit was one innovation that he introduced.) Dr. Plummer and his wife Daisy were well loved by the community and loved living in Rochester. Built from 1917-1924, this house was a testament to the couples love of the arts and innovation as they celebrated the English Tutor Mansion style while including a modern sprinkler system, electricity, a gas furnace, garage doors, etc (some of these things being the first to be installed in the city.) In 1971, the house was given to the Rochester Art Center to be used for events that promoted the arts.

As a part of the city’s department of Parks and Recreation, renting this magnificent manor is reasonably priced and due to its popularity, be sure to reserve your date early! Weekends often get booked early for other weddings and events so considering a weekday if you’re planning to book last minute could still allow you access to this gorgeous property (and weekdays get a discount, too!)

Antonella & Brent’s day was filled with intentional moments with friends and family. Both included family members as they got ready and some of those moments remain my favorite from the day. They decided on a first look which meant they were able to get the nerves out as soon as they saw each other. After taking a few photos inside the house and with their bridal party, we headed to a local church for their ceremony. The day ended up a beautiful, family reception (amazing food from their favorite restaurant: Victoria’s Ristorante and Wine Bar) and sunset photos in the garden. A sparkler exit at the end was truly the perfect send-off!

Enjoy these pictures and perhaps even start dreaming of what an Elegant Castle Wedding at the Plummer House in Rochester, MN would look like for you! You can find more information about how to book your own wedding or elopement at the Plummer House by visiting their website.
